Homeopathy and Health

In 2004 Hugh Harrison, a practitioner of homeopathy from the Isle of Wight, England, undertook a month-long homoeopathy action-research project as the guest of AILELC in Cuddalore District. He was assisted by Janet Bedford who had already helped to initiate organic food-growing there.

He conducted courses there and in nearby schools on the use of homeopathic remedies. He also conducted clinics in several villages and children’s homes, treating over 600 people.

His experiences convinced him that homoeopathy, alongside other health interventions, could make a big contribution to the needs of the villagers.

So the idea of forming a trust was born, which was recognised as CHATI in England a year later. ABOVE and BELOW: Hugh teaching basic homeopathy at a local secondary school.

Sustainable Agriculture

The agricultural side of our work is the inspiration of Arulsamy Xavier, a rural development and social worker who had worked in this area. He had long had the idea of establishing a model farm to demonstrate natural techniques to the local farmers who find themselves caught up in unsustainable agricultural practices.

Through working with Janet and the AILELC staff on the food-growing project, and then meeting Hugh, his vision became the reality it is now.
